Archer Guard Stops Vehicle From Crashing Into Michigan Bridge Work Zone
Bridge crews praise the added protection of Meridian’s Archer Guard as work continues on Detroit’s M-10 Lodge Freeway
DETROIT, MI, UNITED STATES, September 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- A vehicle entered a bridge work zone on Michigan’s M-10, the Lodge Freeway, in the early hours of the morning and was stopped by a Meridian Rapid Defense Group Archer Guard system before it could crash into vehicles, work materials, and heavy equipment being used by the road crew.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight while bridge repair and painting work was underway by leading heavy-highway contractor C.A. Hull Co., Inc. Fortunately, none of their road workers were at the work site at the time. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the driver is suspected of operating the vehicle under the influence.
In this incident, the Archer Guard performed precisely the role it was designed for, stopping the vehicle before it could reach the vehicles, materials and heavy equipment inside the work zone.

The incident also caused zero downtime to the work schedule and no time needed to repair work equipment. In previous incidents involving vehicles crashing into work vehicles and equipment, road crews can face significant delays while damaged equipment is repaired or replaced.
